"I found Melrose to represent the peak of Greek Revival design in Natchez — this 15,000-square-foot mansion from the 1840s still uses much of its original pre–Civil War furniture, passed down through successive owners. After serving as a venue for elaborate parties in the 1970s, it became a museum and historic site; it is listed on the National Register and as a National Historic Landmark and the house and grounds are now managed by the National Park Service. The park is open daily, while the house is open Wednesday–Sunday from 9am–4pm; admission is $11 USD." - Matthew Kepnes
