"Whilst most Melburnians will understandably associate memories of visiting Footscray with buying hot jam doughnuts from just down the road, we feel the ritualistic morning social gathering of locals at Scarlet Corner is a tradition of similar importance. Scarlet Corner brew fresh Vietnamese iced coffee throughout the day, even when most cafés decide it’s probably not the best idea to receive a booster after 3pm. Vietnamese iced coffee to the uninitiated is deep-roasted black coffee mixed with impossibly-sweet condensed milk, served over a mountain of ice. For those who refrain from drinking dairy, they will happily swap out the condensed milk for soy (a general no-no at other cafés.)
