"Launched in 2002 as Melbourne’s first farmers market, this market brings produce from Victorian farms into the inner city and offers a taste of country life at Collingwood Children’s Farm. About 70 stallholders—accredited by the Victorian Farmers’ Market Association—sell fruits, vegetables, eggs, bread, jams, pasta, flowers and more, with no wholesalers or big businesses involved; stallholders are the actual growers and makers and profits support regional communities. There is an entry fee of A$2 per adult (free for children), visitors can mingle with farm animals, and the market operates as a plastic bag–free site; typical hours are 9:15am–4:45pm daily." - BALVINDER SANDHU
