"Housed in a 132-year-old machiya, this flagship marries traditional timber architecture with a contemporary retail program: a narrow wooden façade, exposed timber beams soaring into a double-height interior, a serene courtyard garden and a muted grey palette (inspired by sumi) form a calming backdrop for pleated trousers, reversible jackets, the gallery-like Bao Bao bag installation and locally made itajime-dyed scarves available only at the Kyoto boutique; the space, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, intentionally integrates experimental brand elements with the layered spirit of the historic building." - Danielle Demetriou
