"Opened in 1892 by a prominent Wrocław banker, Hotel Monopol became the city’s most distinguished stay, hosting names like Marlene Dietrich and Pablo Picasso, who famously left behind a sketched dove on a restaurant napkin. Restored in 2009, it still wears its history well: sandstone façades, curved ceilings, and expanses of black and sable marble.
