Get to Know the Indigenous Narragansett People of Rhode Island

"Led by Loren Spears, an enrolled citizen of the Narragansett Nation, this museum centers first-person Indigenous storytelling and programs that convey the community’s history, seasonal lifeways, and ongoing resilience despite colonial disruptions. Visitors can learn about practices such as wintering inland, maple tapping, Strawberry Thanksgiving and other seasonal harvest ceremonies, and encounter exhibits and narratives that emphasize sovereign connection to the land and the continuity of Narragansett culture." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists.
