The Best Restaurants in Fishtown, Philadelphia | Eater Philly

"Chef-Partner Tyler Akin returns to Philly with an emerging hotspot that’s inspired by the flavors and vibes of Corsica and Sardinia. An all-day restaurant, Bastia serves as both a comforting cafe when the sun is up and a lively restaurant serving up coastal Mediterranean cuisine (such as their grilled half lobster algherese with green chickpeas and fingerlings) at night." - Maddy Sweitzer-Lamme

Bastia has lofty aspirations and little payoff - Review - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Expectations for a hotel restaurant usually hover around an overpriced but edible filet of salmon for an early dinner, and a burger you can eat in a robe at midnight. That’s not true of Bastia, the stunning Mediterranean restaurant in Fishtown’s Anna & Bel hotel. Their dishes aren’t serviceable, no matter the time of day. The chef comes from (much beloved) Stock and was co-owner of Res Ipsa, so we had high hopes that it would capture some of the warmth and creativity showcased at those long-shuttered places. But despite the ambitious menu and high-quality ingredients, the execution is utterly perplexing. photo credit: Birch Thomas video credit: Alison Kessler photo credit: Birch Thomas The chic dining room looks like it could be from the set of The White Lotus - Sardinia, thanks to a sleek marble bar, imposing wicker chairs, and oversized fireplace anchoring the room. The soundtrack would be boring for an airport lounge, though it gets loud with couples and groups of friends digging into their butter-soaked focaccia and scraggly octopus, or chocolate-topped burrata (in our case, still frozen in the center). The disappointment on the plate doesn’t end with frigid, mealy cheese and its gloppy pile of toppings—hiramasa crudo is drowning in olive oil; langostinos, charred on the outside, are utterly raw in the center; the chewy, fatty entrecote of beef is so sliced and diced it looks like it was prepared by Edward Scissorhands himself. photo credit: Alison B. Kessler photo credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN photo credit: Alison Kessler photo credit: Alison Kessler You might be tempted to make a reservation—we know it’s been highly recommended. But for a place on every list and big-night-out prices to boot, there’s rarely a payoff on the plate. If you do find yourself here, stick to the cocktails and the skate cheeks. At least you’ll get a clementine with the check. Food Rundown photo credit: Alison B. Kessler Burrata, Hazelnuts, And Dark Chocolate This cheese, hazelnut, and dark chocolate combination has been on the menu since Bastia opened. We’ve had it with grapefruit and thomcord grapes, and also with pomelo and blood orange. And every time we’ve eaten it, it reminds us of something we’d see on Chopped. The flavors and textures are all in competition with one another, leaving the overall dish completely disjointed. video credit: Candis Mclean Amberjack Crudo With Celery Root, Pomelo, Fried Shallot And Padron Pepper Like many dishes here, this one may keep the olive oil industry in business. The delicate fish feels like an afterthought, while the punchy flavors of pomelo and pepper are completely lost in the pool of olive oil it's all drowning in. Skate Cheeks Throughout several visits, these tender, buttery cheeks have remained the best dish here. Preparations change, but this is always a safe order. photo credit: Alison B. Kessler Swordfish Brochettes With Walnut Pesto, Spiced Labneh And Venere Black Rice Grilled swordfish. A basic lemony walnut pesto. Yawn. photo credit: Alison B. Kessler Grass Fed Entrecôte Like much of the menu, this beef is overwrought in presentation and preparation. It does taste better than it looks, but that’s not saying much. photo credit: Alison Kessler Basque Cheesecake If Bastia hadn’t opened just a few months ago, we’d say this was made from cream cheese that had been rotting in the refrigerator for a few years. Completely putrid in taste and smell." - Candis R. McLean

Philly’s Best Mediterranean Restaurants | Eater Philly

"Fishtown’s Hotel Anna & Bel’s resident cafe, Bastia, emphasizes creating beautiful dishes that pay homage to the cultures of Corsica and Sardinia. The offerings here are nothing short of sophisticated, featuring items that are sure to win your heart, like the salt-baked beets with almond and ricotta, half-grilled langostinos with lemon curd, and swordfish brochettes with walnut pesto." - George Banks-Weston

Really loved the cocktails, also appreciated that they had definitions for us non-experts. We had a skate cheeks swordfish, and the special pasta dish, which were all very good. For dessert we had the olive oil cake, especially mixed with a berry was absolutely delicious. Service was very good. It does get a bit loud, very lively atmosphere.

Great addition to the neighborhood! Very attentive service but a little slow in between courses (could very much be by design to more mimic the European style). Pastas were great, pork entree was fantastic. Drinks were good, a little pricey but that comes with the very complex mix of ingredients. Will be back!

Bastia was very welcoming, delicious and unique! I really enjoyed this dinner. The shaved artichoke appetizer is something I've thought about multiple times since eating here a few weeks ago. We also really enjoyed another app blistered grapes and I can't seem to find it on the menu today but I have it photographed. I got the swordfish with black rice, my husband got some pasta special dish. Mine was excellent and his was also delicious but a bit smaller (he was hungry afterward but, he can eat a lot). Our friends got the veal and the iberico pork, both were very good! We all enjoyed the "gift from the gods" cocktail and had a great time. I also really enjoyed the final touch of clementines that they gave you with the bill. They explained it was a custom of their region and I thought it was a super sweet touch!

Google
We had an amazing brunch here, we ordered the tasting menu which comes with a delicious bread and dipping sauces, followed by four lovely small plates , I enjoyed the baked carrots and a salad with bloody orange the most . This was followed by a side of omelette with whipped ricotta cheese We later ordered a side of torn croissant that was flavored with cheese, pistachios and mandarine sauce, it was so good and reminded me of Baklava! We also ordered coffee latte and I am glad they had oat milk option, Overall we enjoyed our brunch so much, we will come back for sure

Google
A great addition to Fishtown, welcoming atmosphere with very nice decor. Service is superb and it was a lovely dinner, we set at the bar and our waiter/bartender was super attentive and personal. I believe after this kind of service you definitely will spread the word and come back for more. It was a pleasant experience. Food wise, yes it’s fancy tasty, but little bit was disappointed of veal entree, tried better ones before. Pork entree was something interesting new and definitely recommended, lamb pasta was like home style and was good. They have also lounge bar area, a nice quiet place to have a drink. I am glad Fishtown has something like Bastia, it gives a positive vibe to the neighborhood.

Google
I had breakfast here on multiple days and dinner one evening during my weekend stay at Hotel Anna&Bel. For dinner, the skate cheeks with heirloom white polenta is an AMAZING creation. I also tasted everything my 5 table mates had ordered and it was all good but perhaps not as outstanding as the skate cheeks. SERVICE was great and the ambiance is really spectacular. PS: For breakfast I had the eggs one morning and the labneh the next. Both were delicious.

Google
To my surprise I was let down greatly. I don’t normally make reviews cause i understand restaurants can have an off night but for the price you are paying at this place I expect so much better. The waitress was so standoffish and rude and basically kept ignoring my table every time she walked by even when I would try and get her attention. If you are spending 100+ for a dinner I’d expect the wait staff to be a little friendly . The atmosphere is beautiful definitely high scale restaurant BUT the food was also just underwhelming, every meal I had was just overly salty and you couldn’t taste much else. The dessert and the cocktails were the best part. Tbh not worth it for the price you are paying.

Food was really good. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. We brought our 2 kids and they gave my daughter wax sticks to play with which was really nice. We had the crudo, skate cheeks, swordfish and orata and everything was very tasty!

Yelp
There were more people working and our server Shawn was knowledgeable and attentive. Our meal was well paced and he checked on us during appropriate times. Our plates were switched out and they clean the tables in between and got the tomato sauce drips on the table near immediately. We never had to ask for our waters to be refilled. The ambiance was not as loud this time, although I suspect this is due to a difference between dinner and brunch. Most importantly, the food was truly excellent. Every dish we had was good. It was refreshing and interesting. We especially loved the pasta dishes such as the gnocchetti al limone with shrimp. That dish was simply incredible and won over my friend who does not enjoy seafood nor her pasta al denté. I did not get to take a picture of the bolognese but that was incredible as well. Everyone at the table loved that dish. I also thought the half chicken was a standout, perfectly tender on the inside with an amazing crispy exterior which went perfectly with the sauce. For share plates my personal favorite was the peaches with iberico lomo, ricotta, chervil and pistachio was a standout as well. It's definitely an interesting combination that really works well together and the green sauce used on it tied everything together and was amazingly delicious. Definitely top three of the night for me. We also enjoyed the tuna crude. I thought the preserved peppers went quite well with it and the strawberries were an interesting and refreshing choice for pairing. [ Disclaimer: I was invited back by Chef Tyler Akin and received complimentary meal. Chef Akin and Bastia did not ask me to alter the review and only invited me back because it was not the service they strive for. I really appreciate the full accountability Bastia took and felt like they valued my input and want to improve experience there. I don't always go back to places even when they offer things like this but I did so in this case due to the genuine accountability. ]

Yelp
Ok, so I've decided to hit all of 2025 Philadelphia Magazine's Top 50 Restaurants, beginning with #1: Bastia...which happens to be in a boutique hotel down the street from my house. Nice! Here we go... My dinner partner began by ordering what nearly every reviewer says is the bomb appetizer, the skate cheeks. While we waited, our server brought out their complimentary bread assortment, some great olive oil, and two olives. My partner wasn't exactly dazzled by the focaccia, but I thought all the bread was really good. Then came my cocktail -- the Bastia Spritz -- which I found to be a pleasant spin on an Aperol Spritz, and the skate cheeks, which were DELICIOUS! They were so good, in fact, I was truly considering ordering another one. But with a pasta course, entree, and desert coming at some point, I stopped myself. SO GOOD, THOUGH! For the second (pasta) course, we tried the rictotta dumplings, which were flavorful and nestled in a spicy, arrabbiata-like sauce. For me, the their texture was slightly strange. They were what I can only describe as soft and slightly spongy. This wasn't necessarily bad or off-putting, but it was somewhat surprising for something I kept thinking was a "meatball." They were so soft and spongy that my partner and I were compelled to double-check with our server that there was, in fact, meat in them, and not just ricotta cheese. "Yes, guanciale," he replied. Next came our entrees, my partner ordered the porcini mushroom risotto, and I ordered the swordfish brochettes (skewers) with black rice (another reviewer favorite). My swordfish was excellent, giving a modern take on classic Mediterranean flavors. My partners mushroom risotto was unusual, the flavor profile being a kind of "sweet and sour." For me, though, it was a bit too sweet for a vegan mushroom risotto, but my partner loved it. To wrap things up, we shared the olive oil cake with hazelnut ice cream, which was good, but nothing special. All in all, an exceedingly pleasant and interesting dining experience in a modern and cozy space with truly excellent service. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, stealthily wiping our table clean and politely replacing our flatware between every course. Not to mention, perfect timing on the water refills. I would definitely come back, but I'm not sure I'm rushing to do so. There are a couple of other dishes on the menu that I might want to try, so maybe I'll circle back after completing this year's Philly Mag Top 50. Bastia Spritz: 4/5 Skate Cheeks: 5/5 Storzapretti Ricotta Dumplings: 4/5 Swordfish Brochettes: 4/5 Porcini Mushroom Escabeche Risotto: 3/5 Olive Oil Cake: 3/5

Yelp
Vegetarian here. Appreciate the options for vegetarians and that some dishes can be modified to various dietary needs. Reservation for 730 on a Thursday. Upon arrival, greeted and promptly seated. Service is one of the best around. It's the small things that stood out. For example, when we finished our appetizers one of the waitresses walked over and not sure if she scraped the table but it wasn't a droopy wet towel that left a bunch of water behind. That being said, our overall experience was ok. The dishes were ok. My fiancé got a pasta special that he was struggling to eat because it was so salty. My pesto was ok, not great. My guess is that the seafood is probably much better and specials can be a bit risky. While vegetarian options were available, the best thing was the artichoke appetizer salad in the beginning. Will probably be back, just not anytime soon.

Yelp
This place was phenomenal!! I could recommend it more! The service was great offering the best recommendations. The food was so fresh and flavor packed! I've never had Sardinian or Corsican food before but it definitely won't be the last! Such a cute place with great food. My husband got a cocktail and that was on point as well!

Yelp
Amazing service and lots of fun dishes. Make sure to let the server suggest wine and courses. Loved it.

Yelp
This was my second time at Bastia and I loved everything from the decor to the service to the incredible food. I came about a month ago with some friends and enjoyed dinner on the patio. I've been raving about here ever since and was dying to go back! Our waiter was the nicest and most attentive guy, checking on us frequently and making sure everything was enjoyable. When you go, please, please try their pasta dishes!!! We tried the mandilli de saea and trofie with corn this time. Both were packed with flavor, but not super heavy or dense which I really appreciated. I would also recommend the shaved artichoke (never thought I'd like that as much as I do) as a light appetizer. Wine, cocktails and desserts were also incredible. 10/10 Bastia - can't wait to try your tasting menu in a few weeks!

Yelp
I was visiting a friend in town for the weekend and she heard really great things about Bastia, so we made a late dinner reservation. We were running behind that evening but fortunately we were able to push the reservation back without a problem. It's located inside a hotel, so might not be super obvious from the outside so just be on the lookout! The menu is pretty unique and had a lot of items I've never tried before so we put full faith in our waiter to help us choose what to eat. I believe some of their dishes are seasonal and I am pretty far behind on catching up with reviews (oops) but definitely ask for their recommendations! Some of the dishes had some interesting flavor profiles, with a mix of sweet and savory. Service was great and I loved the little tangerine at the end of the meal. Overall, glad that I got to try it out but it's definitely a bit on the pricier side so probably not somewhere I would frequent that often.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner and had a prefixed menu. Service was great, food came out quick and our waitress was very attentive. Cocktails were good but expensive for not much in the drink in terms of size. Some of the dishes were better than others but nothing really stood out as something I would crave to come back for. In a cute hotel that I would love to see more of for sure. All in all good experience, decent food, great service,

Yelp
Tucked discreetly inside an upscale hotel, this sophisticated dining spot offers an elevated dining experience. Dishes are elegantly plated. Flavors aren't particularly unique or adventurous but offers a hearty and satisfying meal. The attempts of unique flavor pairings didn't necessarily pay off - for example burrata with grapefruit and shaved chocolate was interesting but not very appetizing. Staff provided attentive and friendly service. Ambiance is cozy, dimly-lit, and intimate. Table top is well decorated. They have an impressive non-alcoholic wine and mocktail options. Whether you're seeking a romantic date night or a special occasion, this spot delivers on quality and service. 4/5 food 4/5 service 5/5 ambiance

Yelp
Everything was superb. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was well paced, so we were able to savor each dish. The wait staff was well acquainted with the menu and offered thoughtful recommendations. Possibly the best meal I've had recently.

Yelp
Loved this new restaurant in fishtown. Food is AMAZING and so good. Really loved the swordfish (best one I've ever had) and loved the bread platter (better than parcs imo). The beets were my fav apps. Cannot wait to go back and try more. I went with a fish/veggie eater so need to go back and try all the meat dishes! The only one I didn't love is the ricotta dumplings gnocchi things - little too Smokey for me but, we got them veggie. Now for the service and atmosphere. I may be a little biased since I come from nyc but the atmosphere is lacking a little. The hotel vibe is perfect and homey but, that needs to continue into the restaurant slightly. Maybe by adding more plants, art or decor this could help. Very minor but, just my pov ! The service was good but, our waiter was a little tired - acted like he's been working there for 30 years when the restaurants only been open a few months. Not that every server needs a charm effect but, when you're paying over $100 per person for dinner you want the best service. All in all, I can't wait to go back and see this place grow! The food is amazing.

Marcella G.

Yelp
Very cute space in fishtown! The food was very good maybe a bit on the pricier side for brunch! Everything was very fresh and they share that it's all locally grown!

Yelp
The service was great and the place itself is beautiful. It's in a new boutique hotel in Fishtown. We had heard a lot about this place prior to visiting. With that said we were expecting to be wowed but left feeling not much at all. This was a few weeks back as I am a little delayed with my review but I got the bolognese pasta which was the special. It was not special. I really want to give this place another shot but maybe I would order off the actual menu. For now it was just an expensive but forgettable meal.

Yelp
Loved the ambience, service, food and drinks! Quality ingredients, creative combinations of flavors and impressive bar. Room is spacious and modern, tables spaced nicely. We ordered grilled sardines, salad with honey crisp apples, cheeks with polenta-all dishes were delicious. For entrees we had entrecôte with broccoli rabe and swordfish with black rice. I was a little bit apprehensive about black rice as sometimes it could be hard & tasteless but it was cooked to perfection. For desert my husband had olive cake and I had panna cotta . Panna cotta was a touch too sweet for my taste ( top of it). Highly recommend.

Yelp
I was really skeptical going in, as I am not a fan of restaurants with menus that are quite indecipherable. I found myself spending a lot of time beforehand googling most of the dishes. But I do think that's more the nature of being true to the Corsican/Sardinian cuisine than being pretentious, so it ended up changing my mind. Cute cozy place tucked inside a quaint hotel. Definitely make a reservation as it was packed when we went. Pretty large menu of a lot of options that I was not familiar with at all. Chose 4: -- Bread service was complementary. Three different breads with a very delicious olive oil dipping sauce and 2 of the largest olives we've ever had. -- Skate cheeks: This was my favorite of the night. Such tender meat and a really great use of chili oil and love polenta in this way. Could've eaten multiple dishes of this. -- Shaved artichokes with Parmesan: Tart in such a nice way, a huge portion (all of the portions of the night were huge), and a really smart of textures/flavors. -- Fregola pasta: I knew this would be like cous cous so I enjoyed the pasta itself, but this was the least interesting in terms of flavor. A hearty amount of mussels, but I actually don't think mussels were the best option for this dish as it doesn't add much in the way of flavor. Autumnal in taste in a way I wasn't expecting. -- Whole orata: I am not a fan of whole fish but I was told this was mostly deboned (and it was but there were certainly a fair amount of bones, especially part of the spine). Love a good tapenade and this was FULL of olives/pesto/etc. Maybe a bit overboard on the tapenade. I wish the fish skin was a bit crispy as it seemed a bit like an afterthought (room for improvement). The service was stellar (chair pushed in, napkin folding when you went to the bathroom). Love a bathroom that invests in Le Labo soap. Your check is served with clementines, a custom of the region. Overall worth the try. Everything globally is a skosh expensive so probably wouldn't feel the need to come back.

Yelp
Bastia overall offers unique flavor profiles on their menu, and honest/unapologetic Sardinian inspired dishes. Complementary bread service (+100 points automatically) 3 breads to try (semolina, foccacia, and a crunchy cracker type thing) and reaaaalllllyyyy good olive oil (so good i asked) We really enjoyed our experience here overall. We tried 3 "apps" from the top sections of the menu: blistered grapes, skate cheeks, and amberjack crudo. All 3 were well balanced and enjoyable - but each one left us wanting just a little more pop! A little citrus on all 3 would have pushed them over the edge for us, but were missing a bit of zing we're used to in creative italian cuisine! The polenta was the star of the skate dish for us. The crudo was good but needed more acid. The grapes were surprising - we ordered them for fun because grapes! Lol. We mostly were just wanting the foccacia it was served with to be warm or toasted. Entree's were good, i forgot to take photos. We ordered the swordfish skewers (which I enjoyed but my partner did not) which came on a bed of buttery black rice (yum!) and an aioli on the side (which was a miss for me and overpowered the fish). Additionally we got the whole orata, which comes with an olive gremolata on top that i was not a fan of (just too much of it) but came with a charred clementine to squeeze over the fish - something i had never tried but it was exquisite and the fish was prepared perfectly. The wine list is extensive, offering pretty much anything you could need from a pallet pleasing perspective. I had the malvasia orange wine and my partner had the cannonau, both were great. We made out at $235 (including tip) for 2 people and 2 glasses of wine (which to me is pretty good for a nice meal) and we left FULL (something atypical of the more expensive places in the city these days). Service was good with the typical misses - water glasses left empty over our entire entree course and empty wine glasses left on the table until we finished our meal. But our waitress was very knowledgeable and explained everything well on their menu. We are excited to return when they rotate their menu - and are keeping an eye out for Sardines on the specials list :)

Yelp
Bastia in Fishtown is one of my new favorites! Came here last night with a friend and we absolutely loved it! The ambiance of this restaurant is modern and has a timeless elegance about it. It is located inside the brand new boutique hotel Ana & Bel that opened up a little over a month ago. We ever got a tour of some of the rooms which were so gorgeous and beautifully put together. We were even debating on doing a staycation here next summer to get to utilize their amazing pool outside! But back to the food and Bastia! They have a beautiful outdoor dining area but we did dine inside and it was just as lovely! The servers were so friendly and helpful when it comes to navigating their extensive menu! They also give you fresh fruit at the end of the meal as a Sardinian tradition! Such a nice touch I have highlighted what we got below: Small Starter Plates: - Shishito peppers with Tzatziki - Grapefruit & Cherries with burrata, hazelnuts & dark chocolate (truly an explosion of flavors!) - complementary bread & crackers for the table (I literally couldn't stop eating it, was so delicious!) Entrees: - Ricotta Dumplings - Lamb Gnocchi (probably my favorite dish!) - Fried Half an Octopus (coated in the most delicious sauce ) Desserts: - decaf cappuccino - chocolate gelato Overall we really enjoyed dining here! After dinner we grabbed a drink outside and sat by the pool. It was so relaxing and I am really looking forward to dining at Bastia very soon! Go try it and let me know your thoughts!

Yelp
Great ambiance, service and presentation! Flavors were good but nothing super special

Sally O.

Yelp
I've only been for lunch so far, and am eager to return for dinner. The space is beautiful inside the Anna& Bel hotel. The lebnah parfait is so fresh, zesty and refreshing as a light breakfast option. I've never tasted anything like it and am already craving more. The tartine is also very flavorful with a nice lemon dress side salad. I think they menus change based on season, but the spring menu is a big hit with me. If you like fresh high quality food you'll like it here! The service is good, but I sit at the bar so can't speak for table service.

Yelp
skate cheeks with polenta, jimmy nardello brown butter crisp and bronze fennel castelfranco with bulgarian feta, citronette, and walnut dokkuh sepia capunti with blue crab, o'vesuvio tomato and breadcrumb swordfish brochettes with walnut pesto, spiced labneh and venere black rice iberico pork secreto with sauce vin rouge, roasted shallot and purple kale sprouts Rating: 13/10. Life changing. We ate here in January, and it may as well be the best meal of the year because nothing could possibly be better. The restaurant just opened, and it's inside the lovely hotel. The interior is gorgeous with soft warm lighting. We snagged reservations at the bar, which turned out to be such a win--the bar is gorgeous and each of their bar seats is so wide and spacious, and the staff behind the bar are hilarious and so fun. My drink (i think it was called Garden of the gods or soemthing) was unbelievably beautiful and so so delicious, easily a new favorite. And then the food. There are no words. Everything hit. And everything hit in such an outstanding way. I have no idea how they cook with such flavor and exceptional handling of the ingredients. The iberico pork secreto was the special that night and it was so mind-blowingly good I am salivating writing this. If you do anything in Philly, this is a MUST visit. We so look forward to returning soon!!

Yelp
Having been to Corsica and enjoyed the boar and pork and so on I saw nothing of this on the menu (their pork was Scottish I was told). Having said that the food was good but not up to the standard the prices would imply.

Yelp
We had a great experience at Bastia. Food was delicious and cooked perfectly. We had the crudo, shrimp, apple small plates as well as a pasta and the duck. Duck breast is always my favorite and it did not disappoint. Our tummy's left super happy. Service and ambience were also terrific! Such a nice, open but intimate space. Our server was able to answer questions for us and helped us navigate the menu. We would def go back.

Yelp
We dined here yesterday for their Easter brunch special and were excited to try after all the great reviews. While the food was very good, this place doesn't crack my top 10 in Philly and I'm confused how it was rated the best. I kept reading reviews of great service and we sadly had nothing near that. The service we received was not up to the standards of a restaurant of this caliber and we often had them clearing dishes too early or having to ask for dishes to be cleared. Our waiter could not even tell you the dishes on the menu it was very disappointing. We had to track down our waiter to ask for another round of drinks and he attempted to walk away after taking just one order. The food was good, but I would still eat at many other Philly hot spots before coming here again. All in all, we left here feeling disappointed based off the entire service experience.

Claire T.

Yelp
To start the look of the restaurant is lovely. Cozy and incredible ambiance. The cocktail menu is extensive and I would recommend the "where the rare fruit grows" and the "not so cafe normale". The complimentary bread is incredible especially the focaccia. The ricotta dumplings were excellent and another favorite of the night was the lobster with squid ink pasta on special. It tasted like an elevated version of lobster with clarified butter. The olive oil cake for dessert is a must!

Madeleine B.

Yelp
Everything was super fresh, great service, vibes, and wine! Great addition to Fishtown.

Yelp
Great food. Very attentive to us. Lots of choices. Somewhat expensive but worth it. Hard to get in so plan well in advance.

Yelp
Every single course was unique and delicious! Recommendation by our server ,Sean, on how to order was spot on. He also suggested the winter Negroni drink and it was fantastic! We started with the salted beets and the hiromasa crudo both were fresh and light. We had the skate cheeks, the texture of the fish was flaky and had a bit of crunch on top. The ricotta dumplings had my mouth watering from the smell as I broke open the first dumpling. It had the perfect amount of heat and a slight smokiness that was so freaking good you want to lick the bowl. Hubby ordered the veal osso buco and raved about it. I had the orata and it was flaky and delicious. Most places that excel at the main food are not so terrific with desserts but at Bastia both the panna cota and the basque cheesecake had unique flavors that were a perfect ending. Service was incredible and allowed us to have conversation but never missed a beat on clearing and presenting the next course. We've been to a lot of really good restaurants but Bastia is top 3 of them all. There are a lot of excellent restaurants in Philadelphia and we will choose to return to Bastia.

Yelp
This is a very different type of restaurant and it's excellent. The chef has prepared dishes that are amazing. Don't go expecting large portions go expecting something. You've never tasted before. Very good service. Very nice place just one negative. No parking.

Yelp
You won't feel like you're in Philly- in the best way possible. An absolute escape. Walk around before dinner and sit outside by the pool if the weather permits. Design of the space, the interiors, the gracious and attentive service, the wildly tasteful landscaping, and the spectacular food- we are in awe. For a place that has only been open for five weeks, it was a surprise that there was not one miss. The pastas are thoughtful and well executed, the octopus is a real treat and don't skip the entrecôte. Will be back soon and often.

Yelp
This restaurant is something special. I feel compelled to write a review because I truly think restaurants have forgotten what the true meaning of hospitality is, Bastia hasn't. from start to finish the meal was impeccable and with top notch service. We started with the most incredible bread basket which was complimentary. we ordered the beets, the fluke crudo, the wild boar pasta, the fish and the ribeye. And they were all incredible. Fresh plates between each course along with a highly knowledgeable staff recommending And letting us try a few different wines before deciding on a bottle. The bottle was reasonably priced and small batch, which we LOVE! Hayden was our server and always kept us informed during each course, Even pairing our dessert course with complimentary amaros that were native to Sicily. There is no notes here. Literally none. This place is a gem and I am salivating at the thought of going back. Andrew the FOH manager stopped by at the end of the evening and spoke to us about our experience and just couldn't believe how attentive he was. long story short, order it all, don't skimp on desserts, best olive oil cake and their version of an espresso martini I have ever had, and let the staff work their magic! Well done Bastia!
