Ran across this place last Sunday whilst looking for tacos on the east side at 9am. The location used to be Dignowity Kolaches, but they have completely remodeled the building and expanded it to include a patio. I do not believe you are allowed to enter the building anymore, you simply order from the patio window.
I guess this place was on a Netflix series. They have a large banned proudly hanging at the entrance ramp informing the public so, but I hadn't heard of the show. Several influencer types were blocking the ramp to take photos in front of the banner. Somewhat annoying, but hardly the establishment's fault. The patio has a pretty mid "cool place" vibe to it like as if it were further downtown. Plenty of room to sit on a Sunday morning.
The staff was friendly, even when someone came out to inform us there was no smoking on the patio. (Seems a bit silly since you can smoke in the parking lot two feet away, but I digress.) Ordering was quick and easy. Menu on the wall, signature tacos all with women's names, and then a list of other more basic tacos along with pricing. Assumption was made that I wanted flour tortillas. They also served canned and bottled beverages.
I had an Irma taco, which was to die for. Very flavorful and tasty. The perfect blend of salsa, avocado, and cilantro. Not bad at $4.50 for something unique. The Vicki was standard fare and priced right at $3.50, and yet, the "classic tacos" were priced almost as high. The carne guisada was well overpriced at $4.75. Oooof. Huevos Mexicana was similarly expensive. These aren't quail eggs, y'all!
I will likely visit again when in the area and wanting to try another "specialty" but you can travel a half mile in any direction and find a "classic" taco for half the price from drive thru and eat it on the Hays Street Bridge.
