"This Harringay canteen is in its element come nighttime. Cash-only and with the atmospheric lighting of a dentist’s waiting room, you come to Durak Tantuni for one thing: tantuni. Wafts of frying beef and lamb, sizzling in meaty chunks with a sumac and parsley mixture, is what fills the room and the little dürüm wraps you’ll eat. A squeeze of lemon is all these wraps need and the pickled peppers are an excellent accompaniment." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, jake missing
"You’ll find Durak Tantuni up towards Turnpike Lane. It’s a short walk from some of the best Turkish and Kurdish options on Green Lanes’ Grand Parade, but it’s well worth the extra steps. Your choice in the brightly lit restaurant is simple: a chopped and fried beef mixture laden with sumac and parsley; wrapped in dürüm or bread. Two regular wraps will do the job and it’s open until 2am. Don’t skimp on the piquant green pickled peppers that arrive at your table either. "Open for: Lunch through late nightPrice range: $As Jonathan Nunn wrote in his guide to north London’s best-value restaurants, “Durak, a tantuni salonu run by Dogan Yesil on West Green Road, is the superior late night snack template.” Only the tantuni, a speciality which originates in the city of Mersin on the southern coast of Turkey, is served here. Beef is boiled, seasoned with the likes of tomato, pul biber, sumac, and cumin and subsequently fried in cotton oil before being loaded, meat juices aplenty, inside a thin lavash with chopped parsley, tomato, and onion. It is then given a pleasing bend before being eaten; a selection of high-acid accompaniments — pickled chiles, lemon — provide the necessary cut-through.Best for: A snack on the way home after a long day." - Adam Coghlan
"Your choice in Durak Tantuni is simple: a chopped and fried beef mixture laden with sumac and parsley; wrapped in dürüm or bread; big portion or small; single or multiple layers of wrap. Two regular wraps will do the job at this essential Turkish restaurant near Turnpike Lane and, as a pre- or post-dinner snack, there are few better things in London. FYI it’s cash-only and it’s open until 2am." - jake missing, sinead cranna, daisy meager
"Whether it’s 1pm or 1am, Durak Tantuni is a Tottenham essential. You’re here for the headline act, the tantuni wraps, that are filled with a chopped and fried beef mixture laden with sumac and parsley, and come wrapped in dürüm or bread. It’s also important we mention the back-up singers: the piquant green pickled peppers that you can pick at between bites of those epic wraps. The space has a casual canteen feel, and for the sake of anyone who has ever inspected their pores in harsh lift lighting, know that it’s very brightly lit, but it’s one of the best places in the area for a solo lunch or a late-night meal." - heidi lauth beasley
