Shmone's Nadav Greenberg: The Next Israeli Star Chef is Here

"Shani rose to fame in Tel Aviv when he opened HaSalon, an upscale spot that serves up Israeli cuisine along with a lively party atmosphere where dancing on tables happens more often than not." - Shivani Vora

Pokémon Burger Bar Pops Up at Radegast in Williamsburg in NYC | Eater NY

"Visiting chef Eyal Shani’s Tel Aviv import HaSalon in Hell’s Kitchen, I found quite the party: around 10 p.m. on a Friday the d.j. played a catchy Israeli pop song, servers flooded the aisles clapping and hooting, and people of all ages dressed in their nightclub best jumped up, some onto chairs and tables, to dance. The food displays the chef’s “devotion to technique” — a tender chunk of fire-roasted beef comes with a “delightfully sticky” crust — though at a steep cost (that meat dish costs $79 and a dish of chunks of tomatoes in olive oil is $24)." - Carla Vianna

The atmosphere was amazing, the concept was exactly right, the staff was wonderful, and the food was exceptional. It was a fascinating, delicious, immersion, and unforgettable experience. We're already waiting for the first opportunity to come back, and we totally recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet experienced the 'Chef's meal', or the Salon in general. We keep asking ourselves- where have we been until now? How did we not come sooner?!

Great, world class food and such a perfect vibe in this place! We had the chefs meal where the dishes are a surprise orchestrated by the chefs in real time.. such a great dining experience! The service was perfect and genuine. Definitely coming back.

Nice place, very good and fresh food, but expensive. Menu changes every day, but expect to pay at least 300-400 nis per person without alcohol. Servings are small, so we ordered 4 dishes for 2 people. We sat at the bar, watching the cooks and seeing the freshness of the ingredients (brought in daily). We were able to get these two bar seats without reservation, arriving at 7:20pm on a Wednesday. However, I recommend reserving upfront. The staff was really friendly.

We arrived at 6:00pm on a Thu and sat at the bar. There is no barman on the other side of the bar, but rather the kitchen itself. Right next to us was an assortment of fresh berries that the chefs used to make the dishes. We helped ourselves to some 🙂. We ordered 5 vegetarian dishes. The 1st three dishes arrived in less than 10 minutes. The 4th arrived an hour and a half later, and we canceled the last dish in favor of dessert. Nevertheless, waiting for the 4th dish was like watching a high quality restaurant movie. It was a delight to see the dishes as they were being constructed, and we were privy to the most intimate interactions between the kitchen workers. Some of the dishes were incredible (the gnocchi was amazing), while others were disappointing (e.g. the eggplant, which was served cold with bland tomato sauce; the waiter didn't charge us for that dish). In summary, the entire experience made the long wait, not only bearable, but worthwhile! P.S. The music, lighting and overall ambiance were just right.

HaSalon by Chef Eyal Shani is simply extraordinary. The flavors here are pure poetry on a plate. The Fig Marble just melted in my mouth… soft, luscious, and unforgettable. And the Romanian Mamaliga… I can’t believe I’m saying this as a Romanian, but it’s even better than the best I’ve had back home. Every bite here feels like a love letter to your taste buds. If you haven’t tried this place yet, you absolutely must. The food doesn’t just taste good—it melts into your soul. I wish I had photos to share, but I forgot about all that while taste my taste buds were in heaven…

Reviewing the “Cooks’ meal”, which consists of five predefined plates. The portions are ridiculously small. Some of the portions are served one for a couple, which makes them even smaller. We left the restaurant still hungry and headed to have another meal at another place. With regards to the food - it was nice, but not mind-blowing.

Best restaurant of my life. Easily. Great atmosphere, best service ever and the single most amazing food I have ever eaten. No exaggeration. Eating here should be on everyone's bucket list. The food was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating. It was life-altering. I had seven main-courses and several starters. The waiters couldn't believe it. It was like unlocking a second stomach that I didn't even know I had. I am a slim man, but I ate so much that I couldn't lay on my bed in the hotel that night - I had to lay on the floor to support my distended belly. It was incredible.

The pricing of this place is not just for the dishes. Its like buying a tickets to a dance club with very fresh and tasteful food. Yes it is by far the most expensive place in Israel. If you are not into paying minimum of 500 NIS per person, then go somewhere else.
