The 21 Best Restaurants In Marseille - Marseille - The Infatuation

"Sepia and its outdoor tapas bar, Julis, have the most peaceful, green setting inside hilltop Parc Pierre Puget, plus views of the cityscape and a little slice of the Med. Lunch at Sepia is a la carte, with mains from €23 and a three-course dinner (€57) of things like pork shoulder with black rice and wild leeks or a fish tartare. Julis is more accessible and its menu a bit more global, with small plate options like grilled sardines with brûléed oranges and chimichurri, or chicken teriyaki with figs and pickled shiitakes. Come for sunset cocktails, like a zingy ginger julep or a mezcal negroni. Reservations are recommended for Sepia, but you can walk in at Julis." - sophie friedman

Sépia

"This guinguette perched on the Colline Puget promises an incredible view of the city and the sea as well as a colourful dining experience. In the kitchen, the chef's go-to ingredient is seafood, but he also likes to combine fish with a meat sauce (or vice versa), in dishes such as yellowtail with Albufera-style sauce. Next door is Julis – their offshoot wine and tapas bar, which is very popular with locals from the Saint-Victor and Endoume neighbourhoods for after-work drinks." - Michelin Inspector

The 21 Essential Marseille Restaurants

"After cooking at several Alain Ducasse restaurants in Paris, chef Paul Langlère moved to Marseille and set up shop in a charming bungalow surrounded by a garden with great views over the city. His brief lunch menu changes daily, and his dinner menu every few weeks, so that he can follow the seasons and cook with the best local produce. Past dishes have included oysters from the nearby Camargue with apple, mint, and ginger; gravlax with passionfruit and citrus; duck with Jerusalem artichoke puree, roasted salsify, hazelnuts, and dates; and roasted lamb shoulder with oyster mushrooms en persillade." - Alexander Lobrano

Fab view, super, quasi-rustic food beautifully prepared, and wines. Excellent staff. A winner overlooking the bay of Marseille not far below Notre Dame

The food is fantastic, the views are impressive, and when you get done, it's an easy walk up to Norte Dame de la Garde. Definitely make it worth your time to eat here when in Marseille.

Loved every minute! Most people opted to sit on the patio, but we opted for a seat indoors. Still had lots of breeze and the views were great. I would not recommend getting to this place by foot as it is located close to the cathedral which is a high point in the city. Also if you’re afraid of heights - have courage when walking over the bridge to the restaurant 🍀 The staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Eggplant dish was to die for. The fraise was my favourite dessert 💗

We had the lamb pasta today on 07.08.24. It was truly the best lamb pasta my daughter and I had. And a great portion. So much so that my husband decided to just eat the rest of our pasta dish because it was just what we were all craving apparently. We loved the noodle size and shape. Had never had that kind before. And loved when some had gotten stuck inside another. The inner one was a bit more al dente it and made for a more fun bite. Great setting. Casual but also felt quiet and special. Lots of shade at the right time but I’m not a meteorologist. Felt wonderfully welcome. Incredible food. Thanks for a fantastic lunch 🥰

On balance, I didn't mind the food but thought it was expensive for what was on the menu - €55 for three courses at dinnertime. The concept here is bringing together flavours from land and sea. I don't really understand this ethos, nor did I love the execution, but can see that this place is reasonably popular with locals. To my mind, the concept confuses the palate, and the dishes lacked dimension, but that is entirely my opinion - perhaps I am too traditionalist. I would recommend coming at lunch - not only is it cheaper, but you'll be able to make the most of the view. Julis next door is probably a more affordable and casual option for dinner - it was way busier than this restaurant.
