The 17 Best New Restaurants In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Tortelli is like Misipasta, without all the fanfare. At this tiny Carroll Gardens pasta shop from the chef behind LaRina, you can pick up a pound of fresh cavatelli for dinner tonight, plus some homemade pesto and a ball of burrata. But don’t leave without letting them make you some pasta to stay, too. There’s two induction burners behind the counter where they’re taking just-boiled fresh pasta and finishing it simply with ragú, or butter, or pesto, and lots of freshly grated parmesan cheese. Don’t let an impromptu lunch tagliatelle deter you from getting that pound of cavatelli to go, though. Pasta for lunch and dinner is the best idea you’ve ever had." - Bryan Kim, Molly Fitzpatrick, Willa Moore, Will Hartman, Sonal Shah

NYC New Restaurant Openings, August 2025 | Eater NY

"A new Brooklyn pasta shop from a trio of Italian food pros — James Mather (alum of Lilia, Misipasta, Maialino, Roman’s, Lupa), chef-owner Silvia Barban (LaRina Pastificio, Briscola Trattoria), and Vincenzo Ruggiero (Mozz Lab) — featuring the namesake stuffed pasta among others, with dine-in and takeout, uncooked pastas and other Italian food products, and tiramisu." - Nadia Chaudhury

NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"From the people behind LaRina and Briscola comes Tortelli, a Carroll Gardens pasta shop where you can pick up some cavatelli or tagliatelle to cook for dinner tonight. But they also have a short menu of pasta to eat there. The Best New Restaurants in NYC

"As the weather chills, there may be no more in-demand tables than the four outside at this Carroll Gardens pasta shop from the chef behind LaRina and Briscola. The titular tortelli arrives in a very buttery pesto, while cavatelli is bathed in a sugo of heirloom tomatoes; some items are exclusive to the dine-in experience, like fresh frizzled snap peas served over ricotta with croutons. Eating at Tortelli feels like overindulging at the farmers’ market without the work of cooking, and there are affordable wines by the glass or bottle to finish the domestic, market-like meal." - Grub Street

Close your eyes, take a bite of your pasta, and you’ll think you’re in Italy. Incredible pasta, fresh salad, and focaccia! We will be back soon to order the rest of the menu 😋 This is not a restaurant - it’s a counter shop with a few tables outside. However if you want to try some of the best pasta in the city, come here or buy their fresh pastas made daily and bring them home. You’ll be glad you did.

If you have visited any of Silvia Barban’s establishments (LaRina and Briscola) you know what you’re getting into….delicious and authentic pastas and charismatic service from her and her team. The selection of market goods is thoughtfully curated and the prepared items for dine in or takeout are delicious!

Google
super cute neighbourhood spot, the pastas are freshly made. the service is beyond! they were out of what we wanted and they freshly made a portion for us. ravioli with scamorzo is a must try!

The only issue with this place is that pasta anywhere else just won’t do it anymore. I was walking around and saw this cute little place with the corner of my eye. Got in was received by the smiling owner, I believe her name is Cynthia. The smell of fresh pesto sauce was just divine and they were making the pasta fresh. I ordered the Ragu and omg, it was possibly the best pasta I have ever had! You know when you eat something and feel transported to a different world, yep that happened. It was a moment of bliss in a very chaotic world. I highly recommend sitting down and eating right there. You can also take the fresh pasta home and cook it your self! I loved it

Google
We got did to take home and cook as opposed to eating there. As expected, beautifully made, light pasta that cooks quickly. Got their tortelli and tagliatelle. Had their heirloom tomato sugo on one (loved) and their imported canned Bolognese (liked) on the other. Tiramisu was very good!

Google
Absolutely delicious!! We got the cavatelli with heirloom tomato sauce and tagliatelle bolognese. The pastas felt light but still filling. Very flavorful sauce and seriously amazing tiramisu for dessert. Not a ton of seating because it's more of a small shop than a restaurant but we were able to sit at a small table outside which was lovely! We really loved our experience here and will definitely be coming back :)

Google
Freshly made pasta and tortelli. It's simple but amazingly tasty. Staff is super friendly. The only downside is not a lot of sitting area.

Google
Good pasta, and certainly on a high level. I can see they’re working out some kinks still being a new spot - we arrived at 4, but there was a sign posted on the door saying they would be closed for the hour. We waited until 5 outside, but in the future, I suggest they post on their social media if they’ll be closed for the hour as several people showed up like myself not knowing they would be closed for the hour. After waiting for an hour, we were third in the door, but waited an additional 30 minutes for our food. I mentioned we were dining in and pointed to our seats outside. There are high chairs inside and more seating outdoors. While waiting, we received two dishes that were not ours and brought them to the diners they belonged to. Then, when our food arrived, unfortunately, it arrived to us in a takeout bag. It was a little disappointing to have that miscommunication after all that waiting. Again, strong potential for their pasta. Little difficult to judge eating from the cardboard containers that were starting to breakdown, but they are still going through growing pains so it’s expected. We wish them luck.

Yelp
This place is charming and wonderful. I believe it's the perfect addition to the neighborhood. Loves: + The pasta is SO good. I mean: tasty, delightful, perfect. We had the tortelli and cavatelli, and both were amazing. + Staff are lovely. Everyone is kind and warm. Even when the place is packed they do not rush anyone. + Chef Sylvia was outside doing some planning!! Blink and you might miss her ;) + Most people I saw ate in one of their tables outside (which is maybe 12 diners), but there's also options for: limited indoor seating, takeout, and pasta-to-go so you can cook at home. I think the portions are smaller than elsewhere, but this is a small detail because the pasta is so high quality. I could have easily eaten two of their pastas. Tortelli: thank you for gracing us with your yummy food. Can't wait to be back soon! :)

Yelp
Look for their blue awning and their sign with the lady holding a giant tortelli! Tortelli offers fresh pasta in which you can order in-person or online to bring home to cook, or purchase already prepared dishes. They also have local and important provisions, such as wine and ingredients to stock up and add to your meals. Their menu is on a butcher block paper, hanging off to the side - they list the house-prepared apps and pastas to enjoy, and housemade pastas to cook at home. We ordered the house prepared Cavatelli with the Tomato Sugo, the Tortelli with Butter & Sage, and the Maltagliati with the Basil Pesto - all were freshly made and perfectly al dente! We really liked that they didn't skimp out on the sauce! Don't sleep on their dessert - the tiramisu with the peaches was a nice finish to the meal! I'd like to check out their rotating specials on the next visit. We also purchased some Tortelli, filled with scamorza, ricotta, and Parm. Staff were friendly, and the store itself was super cute. +housemade pastas +fresh pastas on site +friendly service

Yelp
Tried tortelli on a jaunt in the area after reading reviews and TikTok. Value was decent for the portion size and I liked the cute vibe of the tiny shop. If it's raining it can be hard to find a spot to sit and eat which is a small forewarning. Tried the tortelli which came with butter sage sauce. Sage was underwhelming but the pasta was delicious and stuffed full. Felt it was a nice lunch but not clamoring to get back immediately. If you are in the area try it, just not worth the long haul over social media hype

Yelp
Disappointing. I had the tortelli (filled with spinach and ricotta) which came in a sage butter sauce. The pasta itself was just fine, though a bit too far cooked in a few places. The sauce was a total miss. It was very salty, probably from using salted butter and Parmesan. It was more just like a stick of melted butter with some cheese stirred in, instead of an emulsified sauce like you'd find at other places. Not worth the $22 after taxes.

Yelp
Ordered the tagliatelle with ragu and the tortelli with butter and sage sauce. The tortelli was plump and ingredients were fresh. The flavors are nuanced, though too nuanced, and there isn't enough sauce to give the pasta a richer flavor. The tortelli could be worth making at home if you pair it with a lively sauce. The tagliatelle was a big disappointment. The ragu tasted stale, and the dish was dry, with only scant sauce served on top.

Yelp
Brooklyn's little heaven for fresh pasta! This tiny, charming spot is the only real address for eating fresh pasta in Brooklyn. Everything was absolutely delicious from the housemade pasta varieties to the salads, which they elevate with their tasty burrata. The staff were friendly, kind, and welcoming. Even though we arrived last minute, the service never felt rushed or forced. Honestly, they deserve more recognition than many 4-5 star restaurants.Despite our late arrival, they didn't pressure us at all; instead, they let us enjoy and explore every flavor on the menu. We brought our own wine, but they also have a nice selection of wines and beers available if you prefer. They even offer a convenient togo service. Truly a delightful hidden gem!

Yelp
I was excited to try this new spot, but it was a miss for me. To start, they forgot our order and after asking about it, they rushed to put it together. I ordered the Tortelli Butter and Sage and Tagliatelle Al Ragu. I like my pasta al dente, but the tortelli was straight up undercooked. The ragu was better, but the sauce was grainy. I also ordered the tiramisu, but it was refunded because they ran out. There's very little standing space inside and crammed seating outside. Very disappointing experience overall.
