"The 9/11 memorial at Boston Logan International Airport is a quiet oasis of calmness and reflection, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. It honors the passengers and crew who were aboard American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, the two planes that were hijacked after departing the airport and flown into the Twin Towers. It officially opened in 2009. The memorial takes the shape of a 20-by-20 foot glass cube. Inside, there are two glass rectangles etched with the victims’ names and the departure time of their flights. Additional pieces of glasses are strung from the ceiling, which shimmer in the sun. It’s located atop a small hill and is surrounded by a cluster of trees. Two curved walkways loop toward the cube, which are said to reflect the paths taken by the two hijacked planes. Though a bit difficult to find, the small, poignant memorial is worth visiting. Given it’s out-of-the-way location, it’s likely you’ll be the only one there." - ATLAS_OBSCURA
