The Best Bakeries to Visit (and Pastries to Eat) in San Francisco | Bon Appétit

"No one needsmeto reiterate how coolTartine Manufactoryis (BAdida full guideto the space in 2017). But if you want the pick of the pastries, get there early—the baked goods sell out. I finished a meal of Caesar salad with black garlic and curried lentils with soft-boiled eggs with an adorable jam tart, which tasted like a brown butter linzer cookie with the jam-to-cookie ratio reversed. I’d like to go back for the orange sesame tea cake made withtofu—what?!Before you leave, grab a loaf of the famed Tartine bread (I schlepped two massive country loaves back home to Brooklyn) and skip waiting in line outside the bakery in the afternoon." - BySarah Jampel
