"Travelers have long converged in upstate New York’s Finger Lakes region to enjoy its bounty of gorges and waterfalls. The small, photogenic village of Aurora, which hugs the eastern shoreline of Lake Cayuga, is home to a spa that draws inspiration from this landscape and places an emphasis on hydrotherapy. Walking into the spa’s reception area feels more like coming home to a friend’s tidy, chic living room: you’re immediately taken by the room’s high ceilings and the light, airy space. In a thoughtful move borrowed from residential spaces, there’s a mudroom by the front door where guests can stash their puffy coats and winter boots before they pick a pair of waterproof slippers and check in with reception. Before my visit, an enthusiastic handful of frequent spa-goers all gave me the same advice: Check in several hours ahead of your scheduled treatments to enjoy the various pools, saunas, and wet rooms that make up the spa’s hydrotherapy circuit. For guests who want to use the facilities without booking a treatment, day passes are available. Visitors are also welcome to book nail services in the salon area, where enormous windows overlook the surrounding fields." - Caitlin Gunther, Jessica Chapel
