"This museum was founded in Germany in the 1950s and still maintains its flagship in Essen. In 2017, the Red Dot Design Museum moved from its home on Maxwell Road to the glitzy Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade, one of the most touristed areas in Singapore. Its new home is a thoroughly modern space—all soaring glass and steel and neon red lights and Instagram photo ops. The focus here is on contemporary design; and the items featured are winners of the internationally recognized Red Dot Design Award competition." - Ashlea Halpern
