"What's the vibe of this place?Paia is a funky, bohemian little town on Maui’s North Shore and the Paia Inn, a small, cream-colored building, is right in the middle of it all. Where are we on the scale of chain to independent boutique? The inn is independently owned. What's the vibe? The decor embraces Paia's low-key, mellow vibe. Rooms start on the very small side—just under 300 square feet—and many have street views, meaning you might hear the traffic and noise below. The larger suites tend to be quieter. Creature comforts include good A/C, mini-fridges, and daily maid service. Is there a charge for WiFi?Wi-Fi is included in the inn's $30 amenity fee. Food & drink, what are we looking  at?The inn's Vana Restaurant is a local favorite. You're also within steps of several other places to eat, most of which serve organic, locally sourced fare. Be sure to visit the Paia Fish Market. Who are your fellow guests? The crowd is typically laid-back and easy-going—lots of backpackers, too. What about the neighborhood? Is there a hotel scene?Paia doesn't have much in the way of hotels—it's really a local's town, and that's part of the draw. Are there any downsides? Some guests might find the street noise irksome. Thoughts on the beach? The beach is just a few steps away; although it's technically a public beach, it feels private compared to the touristy beaches in Wailea and Kaanapali. Borrow beach chairs and boogie boards from the hotel. Bottom line: Why should we stay here?Paia Inn offers a singular experience in Maui: the ability to feel like a local."
