Hotel Sáv

"How did it strike you on arrival?Entry is via a convenient work lounge appointed with guest-ready Apple computers. Up one floor, an all-white lobby with a neon-lit reception desk awaits—the color of the lighting depends on the day. Hotel Sáv (style, attitude, vision) has been designed as a “color journey.” Lobby color changes in honor of the chosen vibe: Fridays are purple and mysterious; Tuesdays are yellow and imaginative; Saturdays are light blue and peaceful. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Budget-friendly and upbeat, Sav tends to attract tuned-in young travelers. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The nature- and color-oriented rooms have a refreshing look. Imagine bright white walls, white linens, wood-like tile floors and pops of green. But be warned: Some of the rooms are minute, starting at about 160 square feet. Though tiny, we loved the Hong Kong Fashion rooms on the 20th floor of the hotel, where Sáv has collaborated with 15 different local fashion designers, including Grace Choi and Mountain Yam. Unless you're traveling solo, skip the smaller rooms in favor of a Sáv Special Collection Suite. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Depending on which room you book, you’ll either have a single bed or a double bed. If you don't like the LED lights glowing behind the headboard, you can turn them off or switch the color. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? The in-room Handy phone includes free calls and unlimited data—a nice perk. Inside the Sáv Special Collection Suites, there’s also an in-room tablet that controls the air conditioning, lighting and curtains (we wouldn't mind having one at home). Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The wood and tile bathrooms are snug—space for a standing shower only—but there are nice amenities and big mirrors. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Guests can expect free Wi-Fi throughout the stay, as well as easy access to a Sáv’s “iCare” amenities should you need to borrow an adapter, wireless speaker, USB cord, or Apple TV. Room service: Worth it?There’s no room service here. Instead, guests can dig into dim sum at Bauhinia Kitchen, or enjoy casual American cuisine and cocktails at Moreish and Malt restaurant. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Spirited Hotel Sáv dedicates an entire room to games. On the Podium floor, guests can play pool, air hockey or foosball. Or just unwind on the Sonic Garden outdoor terrace, surrounding by towering residential buildings. There's a compact gym overlooking the jam-packed neighborhood and a 24-hour concierge who can recommend jogging routes. To get around, guests can take advantage of free shuttle service to Tsim Sha Tsui or take the MTR. The hotel is also a quick walk to three stations, including Whampoa, Ho Man Tin and Hung Hom. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? The rooms are small, but there's no shortage of personality here. We also appreciated the local and regional art throughout. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Though a little outside of the central arteries, Hotel Sáv delivers a high-energy experience with memorable decor and thoughtful tech." - Kate Springer
