"The biggest draw to Red Top Mountain State Park is Allatoona Lake, a reservoir that spans more than 12,000 acres with plenty of room for water sports, fishing, and swimming, surrounding the large wooded peninsula constituting the park. There, you’ll find 15 miles of trails, including a paved trail suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. Red Top Mountain, once an important mining area, was named for the soil’s rich color caused by high iron-ore content. The lodging options range from yurts to RV and trailer camps to two bedroom cottages."
