Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen

"How did it strike you on arrival? The sky-high lobby of the 233-room Four Seasons Shenzhen first strikes you as a business hotel with an artsy bent, thanks to the enormous vertical paintings and geode-shaped reception desks. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Given the hotel’s Futian district address, right across the street from the busy Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, the Four Seasons is the go-to for international execs. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Inside the 26-story tower, colorful rooms feature an uplifting and somewhat unexpected aesthetic—contemporary Chinese brushwork murals, purple carpets, and pops of green. Even entry-level Deluxe Rooms are outfitted with large picture windows, a spacious workstation, ergonomic desk chairs, and pretty wood paneling. Club Rooms have the added benefit of Executive Lounge access, which serves breakfast, all-day snacks, and evening cocktails. It's a wonderful, spacious refuge for time-poor travelers. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?You can look forward to snuggling up on a king-size bed with a fluffy duvet. The hotel also provides a pillow menu and hypoallergenic linens on request. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Terry cloth bathrobes, marble floors, a TV-embedded mirror, double vanities, and a deep soaking tub... the bathroom situation is gold standard. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel will make work a breeze. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Designed to feel like an urban garden, the hotel has lots of little courtyards and green spaces that will help travelers forget they’re in the middle of one of China’s most happening cities. But if you need a bit more help unwinding, there’s also a full-service spa, two pools, morning tai chi, a gym, and a yoga studio. As for food, you'll find four restaurants scattered throughout the hotel: FOO specializes in Asian-inspired international cuisine; Zhuo Yue Xuan serves Cantonese cuisine in a fine-dining setting; and Yi Bar & Lounge promises all-day dining, sophisticated high tea, and evening cocktails on the pretty outdoor terrace. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Despite being in the middle of one of China’s busiest cities, the Four Seasons Shenzhen manages to feel like a Zen sanctuary with its outdoor terraces and artsy design. Bottom line: worth it, and why?For a luxurious stay in a Central location, the Four Seasons Shenzhen combines the brand's famously top-notch service with upbeat interiors." - Kate Springer
