Cap Rocat
"Complete with a drawbridge and crenellations, Cap Rocat occupies a former military fortress on a spectacular cliffside site on the Bay of Palma, a 20-minute drive from Mallorca’s capital. Palm trees and gardens soften the imposing structure, and the 24 barrel-vaulted rooms and suites, once used to house munitions, are impeccably designed. A restrained color palette complements the elegant curves and furnishings: teak shutters, sofas upholstered in linen, exposed stone, vintage photographs of the island, and bathrooms with freestanding tubs. Each suite has its own patio, to which breakfast (ham, cheeses, pan con tomate, coffee, and orange juice) is delivered in a hamper; a pagoda with a view of the Mediterranean (and perhaps also of the next-door neighbors); and another terrace. Golf carts help guests navigate the grounds, which include clay tennis courts, a private beach, and a saltwater infinity pool that blends into the ocean. Evenings are best spent with an aperitif on the main terrace followed by a candlelit dinner at the Sea Club, whose authentic, organic Mallorcan fare is delicious, particularly the ox loin steak."
