"A chic Mediterranean cafe and grocery near Rice Village is set to open Tuesday, June 8 at 2132 Bissonnet Street. Founded by longtime friends Molly Voorhees (president of Beck’s Prime and the Chocolate Bar) and Carolyn Dorros (executive vice president at Wolff Companies), who met at St. John’s School, the concept is designed as a relaxed yet elegant, walkable gathering place for neighbors. It will start with casual breakfast and lunch service (Tues–Sun, 7 a.m.–3 p.m.) with table-service dinners to follow later this summer, plus take-away dishes and a curated retail shop. Menu highlights include breakfast mezze platters and baklava granola, Turkish flatbread stuffed with lamb kofta, roasted chicken, duck-fat potatoes, and tahini-coated roasted cauliflower; the bar will feature a tightly curated wine list and cocktails such as a tomato martini made with vodka and fresh tomatoes; retail offerings will include meats and cheeses from Houston Dairymaids, infused olive oils, baked goods, and spices." - Brittanie Shey
