"An Atlanta-based restaurant nonprofit that for a decade has provided crisis assistance to restaurant workers across Atlanta and parts of the Southeast; it is the beneficiary of a current auction of two floor tickets to a sold-out April 29 concert. The organization won the James Beard Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year award in 2019. Its co-founder, Jen Hidinger-Kendrick, traces the charity’s origin to the fundraising support her late husband, chef Ryan Hidinger (who died in 2014 at age 35), received during his cancer battle—an early benefit that raised more than $300,000 and prompted a mission “to help others like me.” Through annual Team Hidi benefits, individual and corporate donations and community events, the nonprofit has awarded over $8 million in financial aid to more than 123,000 restaurant workers over the past decade." - Beth McKibben
