"If it keeps its planned debut date this September, I'll welcome The Derby Grill as a rare full-service dining addition to West Las Vegas; the family-owned, upscale project bills itself as serving “Southern Style Cuisine With A Touch of Class” from a large 5,327-square-foot corner spot in the Edmond Town Center, close to the intersection of Owens Avenue and North M.L.K. Boulevard. Designed to seat 146 in the dining room plus 15 at the bar, the interior was created by respected local firm KME Architects, which was also integral to the Historic Westside School restoration about a mile away. The initial plan is to operate 7 a.m.–10 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight on weekends, and the menu emphasizes soul food and southern-style favorites, including the owners special recipe for preparing “smothered chicken.”" - Bradley Martin
