"I noted that Wawa, the ubiquitous roadside fixture that fuels fans with subs, pretzels, and caffeine, opened its fifth D.C. location this morning at 1 Thomas Circle NW; the new 24/7 store moved into the space formerly occupied by the West Wing Cafe. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the chain’s typically over-the-top grand opening festivities were pared back to a “social distancing ribbon cutting” aired on social media, and the 900-location brand kicked off its famed opening-week promo — free, any-size coffee — through Sunday, August 9.
