"When Andytown Coffee opened its new Richmond District location at 800 Great Highway on November 21, I found a bright, plant-filled shop with tons of natural light (many plants courtesy of fellow building tenants Ocean Plant) and an unbeatable ocean view — as owner Lauren Crabbe says, “I don’t know anywhere else in the city where you can get coffee and look at the ocean like that.” The opening was insane, with neighbors flocking over in droves. Like other Andytown spots, the menu includes the chain’s baked goods (including its famous Irish soda bread) and Nana Joe’s granola, and Happy Moose juices and a full tea selection remain on-site. For the first time the It’s-It affogato is available alongside regular It’s-It ice cream sandwiches served sans espresso — “that’s the showstopper,” Crabbe laughs. This is Andytown’s largest location by a stretch, and the Ocean Plant partners are excited to bring in community partners: the Surfrider Foundation has already hosted meetings here, Recess Collective created a kid’s corner, and the space stocks San Franpsycho clothing, Green Apple Books, and Tunnel Records’ music selection. The Richmond location is open 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday." - Paolo Bicchieri
