"On September 1, a drunk driver crashed onto the patio of the Park Tavern restaurant and bowling alley in suburban St. Louis Park, killing two people and injuring at least nine others, and a memorial has grown outside the restaurant. The victims were Kristina Marie Folkerts, a 30-year-old server with lifelong ties to the Tavern—including following in her late mother Lauralee’s decades-long service and distinctive pink uniform—and Gabriel Quinn Harvey, a 30-year-old nursing student dining on the patio; Folkerts was a mother of three and the Tavern has launched a fundraiser to support her family, while proceeds for Harvey will go to his partner, Denzel, for funeral and living expenses. The driver, Steven Frane Bailey, had a reported blood-alcohol content of 0.325 and five prior drunken-driving convictions; criminal charges were filed and his bail was set at $1 million. The Park Tavern, described as a pizza restaurant and bowling center with rooms for events and parties, announced it reopened on September 4, asking for “patience and kindness” as it moves forward and thanking the community for overwhelming support." - Justine Jones
