"I'm reporting that a California-born concept that blends Hawaiian-style mochi and Japanese rice cakes with American fried doughnuts is opening in Las Vegas: Mochinut will officially open at 11 a.m. on April 24 at 4355 Spring Mountain Road in Chinatown, replacing LuLaLa Karaoke & Skewers and sitting near Arville Street and neighbor Sushi Kaya. It serves more than two dozen varieties of pon de ring-shaped crispy and chewy doughnuts — including yuzu, ube, taro, pistachio, Nutella, and banana milk — and also specializes in Korean-style corn dogs on a stick filled with sausage and mozzarella in a rice-flour batter that can be upgraded with crispy ramen or potato. I also note a second location, not yet dated, will take 977 square feet at 55 S. Valle Verde Drive in a Smith’s-anchored retail center three doors down from an under-construction Twisted Sugar cookie shop; future hours for both locations have not been revealed." - Bradley Martin
