"Almost within the shadow of Allegiant Stadium, I learned that In-N-Out Burger has filed plans for a 1940s-inspired themed drive-thru on the southeast corner of Russell Road and Polaris Avenue. Launched in Baldwin Park, California, in 1948 and after building a non-operational replica of its original location in 2014, the chain's 17th local expansion would be a 2,300-square-foot working drive-thru with no indoor dining—serving only walk-up and vehicular orders—and a 1,600-square-foot outdoor plaza with two drive-thru lanes. Customers will pick up their “double-double” burgers, then drive down a shallow ramp under the plaza and through a short tunnel back onto Polaris Avenue. The retro look is expected to elongate the boxy Forties design while keeping gooseneck lamps, the sharp red-and-white color scheme and awnings; a retail component is not part of the current proposal. The project has yet to begin the Clark County approval process, and no opening date has been announced. I also note the chain's stated commitment to quality and its classic menu of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries and shakes." - Bradley Martin
