"I'm reporting that Copper Top Coffee & Donuts is reopening in Pacific Beach by the end of the year on a busy stretch of Mission Boulevard, bringing back still-warm doughnuts and freshly brewed coffee. Founded in Hillcrest in 2018 and shuttered last spring, the shop originally launched with a high-traffic drive-thru window that owner Josh McCorkle says proved difficult to manage with a menu of doughnuts made to order, which contributed to his decision not to extend the lease on Washington Street. The new Pacific Beach storefront will offer a large selection of doughnuts cooked fresh when ordered and featuring housemade sauces and toppings like salted caramel and marshmallow; bestsellers include 16 Candles, made with house white chocolate, coconut, and sprinkles, and the Elvis, which incorporates peanut butter, raspberry jam, bananas, and bacon.
