"After months of hype, the Texas-based burger chain is making its metro Atlanta debut in Kennesaw on Monday, November 28, becoming the first of six planned locations in the northern and eastern suburbs. The Kennesaw restaurant takes over a former O'Charley's on Townpark Lane and will open the Monday after Thanksgiving with drive-thru service first, followed by dine-in, online ordering, and delivery in the coming weeks. Whataburger, which rakes in more than $3 billion annually, is known for customizable burgers topped with its signature spicy and Fancy Ketchups; the company has announced plans to open at least eight new Georgia restaurants over the next two years (including Woodstock, Cumming, Snellville, Covington, and Buford, along with Monroe, Athens, and Dawsonville), and a Whataburger is already open in Thomasville near the Georgia–Florida line. There are currently no locations planned inside Atlanta proper, and when all six metro-area openings occur the closest option for many city dwellers will be the Kennesaw location, roughly 25 miles away." - Beth McKibben
