"A three-year-old Royal Oak brewery, led by co-owner John Leone, is planning to acquire a northern Michigan craft brewer within the next few months. The purchase is described as an effort to strengthen smaller Michigan breweries that often struggle to develop distribution and are vulnerable to takeover by larger commercial brewers. The Royal Oak operation was more successful early on at scaling for distribution, and the deal would allow the Traverse City brewer to reach markets outside Michigan.
