"Opening this June at 1300 East Seventh Street in Central East Austin, I learned that the Flower Shop's new outpost will mirror the New York cocktail bar and restaurant's blend of Australian bar sensibilities, Midwestern American diner vibes, and retro ambiance while adding odes to local culture. The menu leans into comfort food with pub/New American/Australian touches, including meat pies, shrimp tacos, maitake mushroom rigatoni, disco fries, spinach artichoke dip, and chicken wings. Drinks reflect its dive-bar inclinations—draft, canned, and bottled beers; well drinks and shots featuring lots of tequilas, mezcals, whiskeys, and bourbons; wine by the glass and bottle; and a short cocktail list that includes a cold brew martini and the Spanky (mezcal, lime, passionfruit, and cinnamon). Co-founders Dylan Hales and Ronnie Flynn (with co-owners Dave Turner and Will Tisch) say the Austin location will be similar to the Manhattan original but with local touches; the team—who opened the Flower Shop in Manhattan in 2017 and later expanded with Little Ways in 2020 and projects with Tao Hospitality Group in 2022—plans midcentury details like wood-panel walls, a pool table, and a fish tank across two stories plus a rooftop deck, and they were drawn to the building's history and layout." - Nadia Chaudhury
