"An annual HIV/AIDS benefit for Legacy Community Health where performers received fistfuls of fake dollar bills from onlookers that were later exchanged for donations; the Dandy Drag Kings played to several hundred patrons there, the largest audience they would have all year, and performed for free. The event also highlighted disparities in treatment: while drag queen performers had an expansive green room filled with professional-looking makeup counters and enormous wigs on styrofoam heads, the drag kings "shared a small room, their bags spread over the floor."
