"On Chestnut Street, Howell’s is a Marina wine bar that, during the dining room closure, was offering wine and charcuterie or cheese boards to go; a photo showed throngs of mostly unmasked patrons standing far less than six feet apart outside, which prompted SFPD to admonish Howell’s for not complying with the city health order and to forward a report to the City Attorney. Co-founder Nate Welch said he was grateful to the SFPD for dispersing people, argued that he can only control the small square footage in front of the bar, maintained that Howell’s was unfairly blamed because he couldn’t see what was happening beyond his narrow storefront, and said he wasn’t even aware of the unmasked masses." - Eve Batey
