"Opened in 1995 on Petaluma Boulevard, the all-day, European-style bakery and café became a Sonoma County institution known for its bread; it was named one of Bon Appétit’s best American bread bakeries in 2010 and made its list of best baguettes in America in 2011. Weber began as a self-taught home baker and, after studying under brick‑oven artisan Alan Scott, constructed a wood-burning oven based on his specifications; her husband Ed said they were among the first on the West Coast to commercially produce bread that way, initially selling loaves door-to-door and eventually becoming the bread supplier to Thomas Keller’s French Laundry. Weber documented her approach in the cookbook Della Fattoria Bread (2014), which was praised by Ina Garten, and the bakery planned a public open house to memorialize her on January 25." - Eve Batey
