"I learned that after months of delay Krispy Kreme will open its sprawling Times Square flagship on September 15 at 1601 Broadway (West 48th Street), flipping on the world’s largest hot light to signal fresh doughnuts; the location includes a glaze waterfall, a production line capable of making close to 400 dozen doughnuts per hour, and a 24-hour walk-up window for takeout. Despite tourism still being down, the chain expects this flagship to be its busiest among roughly 1,400 stores internationally; it was originally slated to open in May but was delayed by the pandemic, and the company now plans to have eight New York City locations by year’s end." - Luke Fortney
