"Founder Larry Bell’s interest in beer started with yeast when he was working in a Kalamazoo bakery. Soon after homebrewing was legalized, he opened a homebrew supply store and by 1985 was selling his first beer — made in a 15-gallon soup pot. A little less than a decade later he opened the Eccentric Cafe, the first onsite pub at a Michigan brewery, and began distributing their beer throughout the country.
