Macayo's Mexican Kitchen

"When Phoenix-based Macayo’s Mexican Restaurants sold its six Arizona restaurants earlier this year, it also meant the end of the Macayo brand in Las Vegas after six decades. But fans of the warm atmosphere, extensive menu, and its famed TCT, toasted cheese tortillas, still have time to enjoy a meal or two. Last month, the 59-year-old restaurant at 8245 W. Sahara Ave. closed once the owners found a buyer for the property, but Macayo is still keeping its eastside location open at 1741 E. Charleston Blvd. with no immediate 'set closing date.' The current plan calls for the restaurant to continue serving lunch and dinner until a buyer for the Charleston space is found and the locals 'hope to have a new location by that time and try to make it an easy transition.' Reassuring fans on Facebook they will give enough notice for diners to enjoy another final meal, the Las Vegas team will transfer the same recipes to the next location, debuting under a new name." - Bradley Martin
