"I'm reporting that Kevin Demers is opening a tiny new project called El Pequeño in Old Montreal, which he says will be Canada’s smallest bar with room for just nine customers and two staff inside a 150-square-foot space. The focus will be Caribbean rum, with a six-cocktail menu — three Cuban-style classics (think mojitos and such) and three original rum creations — plus rum tastings in the works. There will be an equally tiny food option: a Cuban sandwich with a few variations, likely sold out of a window to mitigate the severe space constraints. Demers and the Cold Room team (including bar head Daniel Boulianne) say they’re going "all out" on an old-school, high-end Havana hotel look — a little worn — complete with a 1950s chandelier from the Queen Elizabeth Hotel and marble floors, and it will be located on Saint-Vincent Street next to the Cold Room’s door, across from pizzeria Bevo; opening is planned in the coming weeks." - Tim Forster
