"I note that the 100-person members-only club at Intuit Dome—represented by Steve Ballmer’s company Murphy’s Bowl—has been granted a unique 4 a.m. last-call exemption, making it the only venue in the state allowed to serve alcohol that late; Ballmer said the extension was needed to boost a distinctive Los Angeles community that draws hundreds of thousands of sports fans each year. The decision has drawn scrutiny given Connie Ballmer’s $1 million donation to Gov. Newsom’s recall campaign and Murphy’s Bowl’s more than $700,000 in lobbying for looser alcohol-advertising rules and face-scanning ID technology, prompting critics on social media to call the move an example of corruption.
