"I note that the hotel and resort McMenamins Edgefield, built from housing historically used as a “poor farm” in the early 20th century, houses 11 restaurants, bars, and cafes — including a winery tasting room, distillery bar, and pool hall — and this weekend hosted its annual brewfest, which had been rescheduled after last month’s heat wave. On Saturday night, July 10, I report a brawl erupted in the parking lot involving approximately four men and three women described as “extremely intoxicated” who refused to leave and allegedly threatened staff; when a Multnomah County deputy intervened he was struck in the face several times, rendered unconscious, hospitalized with head injuries and has since been released and is recovering at home, while another deputy suffered arm and leg injuries that were treated on scene. Three people were detained: Alverta Rosales and Jose Dolores Martinez Calixto were booked for assaulting a public safety officer and resisting arrest, and Mitchell Calixto was issued a criminal citation for the same charges, was transported to the hospital for injuries and has since been released. The investigation is ongoing and it is unclear whether the patrons involved were leaving the brewfest." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
