"A newly opened, exclusive lounge inside the Salt Shed complex near Elston and Division offers one of the most vibrant nighttime skyline views above the Chicago River, just west of Goose Island. Opened earlier in November, the space is primarily tied to private events and select concerts rather than regular hours; concert ticketholders may face an additional cover on certain nights, and the venue posts Instagram alerts while prepaying guarantees entry. Guests climb stairs to a room called Valhalla, where sloped high ceilings evoke the building’s history as the Morton Salt Factory (the factory’s umbrella girl remains visible from the Kennedy Expressway). Operated by 16” on Center—experienced operators behind spots like MONEYGUN—the menu focuses on cocktails (espresso martinis, pineapple daiquiris), wines by the glass or bottle, canned nonalcoholic options, and small bites such as short rib arancini, tater tots, and bread. There’s a dedicated Elston-side entrance to avoid going through the main Salt Shed, and the experience is deliberately distinct from Goose Island’s Salt Shed Pub (they aren’t pouring Goose Island on the listed menu)." - Ashok Selvam
