"At the Parmer Woods senior living community center in North Austin, a small group of seniors are brewing their own beer through a program called Parmer Woods Beer Works, implemented by life enrichment director Amy Casillas. The residents do everything from choosing beer styles to bottling and label design while following COVID-19 precautions—wearing gloves and masks—and have already produced cider, an IPA, an oatmeal stout, and a wit beer, with plans to brew an ale and a lager next. Casillas described it as “a way to stay part of the community while also putting our own little flair on it,” and the group is open to selling the beers through a retail partner or similar outlet." - Nadia Chaudhury
