"In FiDi I noticed a new Asian steakhouse from two seasoned restaurateurs: Brooklyn Chop House, at 150 Nassau St. between Spruce and Beekman streets, which pairs standard steakhouse fare—steaks and burgers, a wedge salad, dry-aged porterhouse and ribeye—with Chinese dumplings, sushi, beef and broccoli, fried rice for two and various other dumplings and entrees. The menu even echoes the short-lived Jade Sixty, and includes a three-course $24.95 lunch deal and $10 mixed drinks aimed at the thriving FiDi working crowd. The space seats 150, with two private dining rooms and 35 at the bar, and the look leans into “romance, youthfulness, and nostalgia of Brooklyn” with exposed brick and floor-to-ceiling velvet curtains; it previewed via a buzzy Hamptons pop-up this summer. Owner Robert (Don Pooh) Cummins, a music-industry exec and prolific IHOP owner, has close industry ties (once inspiring the decor through his friendship with Biggie Smalls, though that element is no longer present). Brooklyn Chop House is now open weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends until midnight." - Stefanie Tuder
