"Well-established in the Los Angeles area with locations on Santa Monica and Hollywood Boulevard and having landed in Barrio Logan in 2018, Oi Asian Fusion is a fast-casual rice-bowl concept centered on reinterpretations of classic Filipino dishes such as adobo and tapsilog while also drawing on Korean, Japanese and American soul-food influences. I describe its quick-service menu as including lumpia, pork belly buns, burgers and fries, with newer offerings like a Ribeye Bistek rice bowl—interpreted here with medium-rare ribeye in ponzu, garnished with shallots and a fried egg—and the popular Oi Shrimp Bomb bowl with lemon-garlic Cajun-style shrimp that owner Jaypee Woo told Eater may return. The eatery’s new Carmel Mountain Ranch Town Center outpost opens this weekend in a 1,200-square-foot space, and Location Matters’ Alexis Dachs said she’s excited to see the modern, unique brand with an authentic menu thrive in that community." - Candice Woo
