"Expanding from a stall at the colorful SocialEats food hall near the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, this Japanese hand-roll and cut-roll sushi specialist is opening a standalone spot at 1542 N. Cahuenga in Hollywood (between Sunset and Hollywood). The expanded menu adds crispy rice dishes and a build-your-own bento box format—part of a growth push by parent company K2 Restaurants—to complement hand rolls with options such as soba noodle salads and proteins like spicy tuna and pork belly, plus beer and wine including many craft Japanese selections. Operators hope the new outpost will finally stick in a space that previously hosted short-lived concepts like Kebbros (a döner kebab shop with a robotic slicer) and Demitasse (coffee, cocktails, and American fare). No official opening date has been announced, though an opening is expected later this year." - Farley Elliott
