"After Gehad Hadidi purchased the 50-year-old Midtown French bistro from the Picot family in 2019 (the Picots had run it after founder Jean-Paul Picot retired in the early 2000s), I noticed he used the spot to put a personal spin on classic bistro fare — adding chermoula and muhammara to dishes like veal croquettes and slipping in ingredients such as za'atar, harissa, and labne — and that Pete Wells of the New York Times wrote the restaurant demonstrates that the “spirit of French cooking might be the strongest” among Midtown’s “haute-cuisine” offerings." - Emma Orlow
