"Salazar plans to revamp the Main Street space into a neighborhood bar with only a bit of “lipstick and touch-ups,” keeping the building’s good bones rather than overhauling it. The replacement will keep old-school American whiskeys and bourbon front-and-center and will focus heavily on local and craft beer; Salazar is still considering whether to continue the live local-music programming that City Tavern showcased. On the food side, the menu will emphasize food more while retaining many of City Tavern’s dishes that locals loved — including the Monte Cristo (french toast covered in ham, bacon, jam, lettuce, and tomato) and Salazar’s personal favorite, chicken fried steak — with additional comfort-food additions expected; the new bar is slated to open in October." - Alaena Hostetter
