"I've followed an Asheville-based pottery brand, East Fork, known for its social-media-famous “everyday bowls” and chunky-rimmed ceramics, and it's opening its first store outside the South at 377A Atlantic Avenue (between Bond and Hoyt streets) this fall — the brand announced the news on Instagram. Since launching in 2009, East Fork has built a loyal following thanks to limited-edition colorways that inspired a cult of collectors and an active resale market; the brand also runs “seconds sales” for less-than-perfect items at a discount. A Certified B Corporation, it’s beloved for transparency around its pricing, operating policies, and politics. East Fork has appeared at restaurants like Charleston’s Husk and Asheville’s Good Hot Fish and leaned into partnerships with food and home brands such as Momofuku, Samin Nosrat, Diaspora Co., Fishwife, and Schoolhouse. This will be the company’s third store (it already operates locations in North Carolina and Georgia) plus a factory space not open to the public; follow the store’s Instagram for updates." - Bettina Makalintal
